How to Start a Conversation

You don't need to be an expert to recognize when someone needs outside help - if you can tell a friend, family member, or co-worker isn't doing well, they might need a greater network of support.

Don't worry if you're at a loss for words! Here are conversation guides for those moments to help you get started.

  • "Seems like something's up. Do you want to talk about what's going on?"
  • "I've noticed you've been down lately. What's been going on?"
  • "Hey, we haven't talked in a while. How are you?"
  • "I know you're going through some stuff. I'm here for you."
  • "Are you OK? You don't seem like yourself lately."
