My Ascension: A Journey of Hope, Healing, and Resilience
My Ascension tells the inspiring true story of Emma Benoit, the keynote speaker for the event. Emma, a popular high school student who, despite outward appearances of success, struggled silently with depression and anxiety. After surviving a suicide attempt in 2017 that left her with a spinal cord injury, Emma dedicated her life to mental health advocacy and shared her journey to inspire others.
Through this film and discussion, our goal is to:
- Help students recognize that they are not alone and that help is available
- Encourage open conversation about mental health, depression, and suicide prevention
- Provide local resource information and empower students to seek support
- Foster hope, connection, and resilience in our young people
